Steve Waller
Drums & Vocals
Steve is a Beatles fan who remembers seeing their historic appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964. Already taking drum lessons at the time, the following year his parents bought him a Black Pearl, Ludwig Super Classic drum set "just like Ringo's" that he still uses to this day. Come check it out at one of our gigs.
His musical influences are the usual suspects for a kid growing up in the 60's. Of course, The Beatles will always be No. 1 in his heart. But there is a long list of others encompassing jazz, rock, bluegrass and country. In the summer of 1967, Steve's parents took him to see one of his drum heroes, the great Gene Krupa, at the Showboat Lounge in Washington, D.C. It was around this time that Steve formed his first band, Mystic Mourning, with some neighborhood buddies.
While he loves playing the drums, Steve says he's thinking of switching to a smaller, lighter instrument and is known to have a full set of harmonicas! Not only does Steve play the drums, he's also a beginning guitar student with the wonderful Carl Detroia.
Steve returned to Virginia in late 2019 with his beautiful wife, Linda, to be closer to grandchildren who reside in Fairfax and Cincinnati. They found their forever home at Lake Monticello in 2020. They are both enjoying a great life with great friends!
